Storm Trysail Club finishes on the Podium at Resolute Cup

Congrats to Team Storm Trysail Club for finishing on the podium at New York Yacht Club's Resolute Cup 2022. The third place finish was hard fought and won by Erik Storck (Skipper) alongside his brothers, John and Ian, and Marie Crump. This is the highest finish for the Club (they finished 4th in 2018 and 2016).

When asked what the biggest challenge of the regatta was, John replied:"The Resolute Cup remains some of the hardest racing we've experienced. Once you get to the gold fleet, if you miss the first shift of the beat, you're immediately sliding backwards in the fleet and it becomes very easy to find yourself in last. Part of the challenge of the event is how you handle being in last, because it is almost inevitable. We were really proud of how hard we kept racing in those moments this year."

The Resolute Cup was first run in 2010 as the U.S. Qualifying Series for the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup. The biennial regatta, which is sailed out of New York Yacht Club-Harbor Court, has since developed an identity of its own. Yacht clubs from around the United States send their best amateur sailors to Newport, R.I., to compete for national bragging rights and the possibility of a trip to the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup, sailing's premiere international Corinthian big-boat regatta.

"We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to have represented STC three times now," added John. "After finishing 4th twice, the podium was especially sweet. We have the utmost respect for how difficult the task is to land on that podium. And we're proud to have gotten there on behalf of the club we grew up with. "
