Support Maggie Shea’s Olympic Campaign

,

Any Storm Trysail Club Members who volunteered or attended our last Key West Race Week will certainly remember Maggie Shea. She served John Fisher, Dick Neville and myself as the “go to person to get things done” on land and water. At the time we joked that she earned both “Rookie of the Year and MVP” honors. She worked tirelessly at the Regatta, all to the benefit of The Storm Trysail Club.

Since then, Maggie has teamed up with another outstanding sailor and all-giving person, Steph Roble, for a very serious Olympic campaign. They are the number one ranked US 49er FX team and possibly the USA’s best chance for a medal in 2020. I’ll let Maggie explain how STC can help the team fulfill its dream.

Thanks,
Bill Canfield
Steph & I have launched a crowd funding campaign via GoFundMe, and our title sponsor, Kilroy Realty, has pledged to match every dollar, bringing the total possible goal to $40,000. The donations made on GoFundMe will go directly to their 501c3 account via the PayPal Giving Fund, and are therefore are tax-deductible.

The Olympic Trials are very expensive because they require us to compete in five different regattas in Peru, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. We are raising money to cover the costs of travel and housing for our three-person team, which includes our coach, Giulia Conti. Throughout the six-month Olympic Trial period, we will represent the US at the Pan Am Games and the Olympic Test Event.

Competing in the Olympics has been a lifelong aspiration for both of us, and we have dedicated our efforts full-time, which usually translates to 200+ days per year on the water, since 2016 to pursuing excellence in the 49erFX. We feel lucky, grateful and proud to be on this journey, and we really appreciate any support you can offer as we near the final stretch of the Olympic campaign.

You can join our team and donate to the GoFundMe campaign here: https://www.gofundme.com/robleshea or instructions for other ways to contribute can be found at www.RobleSheaSailing.com/donate. We appreciate donations of any size; every little bit adds up!
