Patience Rewarded as Christopher Dragon XII Claims 2025 Shearwater Title

The 2025 Shearwater Regatta, co-hosted by Storm Trysail Club and Riverside Yacht Club, was scheduled for September 13–14 but ultimately came down to just two races on Saturday. After an extended postponement ashore while the race committee and sailors alike waited patiently for wind, conditions finally cooperated around 1400, allowing two solid races to be completed.

STC Commodore Andrew Weiss’ Christopher Dragon XII (Italia 11.98) showed consistency and speed in the light-air contest, posting a 2-1 scoreline to top the fleet and secure the overall win. Unfortunately, Sunday brought only glassy waters, and the regatta concluded without further racing.

Despite the fickle breeze, the event showcased camaraderie between STC and RYC members, with a well-run race committee that maximized the racing opportunities. Sailors can look forward to next year when, as promised, a steady 10–15 knots from the south will surely be on order.
