Juniors Can Learn Valuable Offshore Survival Skills on Shore and On the Water.  Participants must be proficient at basic sailing and over the age of 13.  You must know how to sail.  Deadline to register is May 31, 2024.

  • Heavy Weather Discussion/Awareness/Radio
  • Crew Overboard Prevention and Recovery
  • Big Boat Safety Equipment
  • Fire Suppression and Flair Use
  • Life Raft Deployment and Boarding
  • On the water session with man overboard recovery, setting storm sails & emergency steering

Seminar Schedule:

0900h to 1700h

What to Bring:

The seminar will be an all-day affair. You will be in the classroom and on the water.

 

You must bring the following:

  • Sunblock, hat, swimsuit, towel
  • Appropriate boating shoes. No flip flops or sandals
  • We will be sailing, rain or shine, so dress appropriately for the weather.
  • Lunch and a Refillable water bottle
  • USCG approved PFD (if you do not have one, please reach out in advance)
  • If you have an inflatable PFD, please bring it along so we can examine it and help you check it and learn about it
  • Any safety gear you own you want to learn more about!
  • A notebook and pen or pencil
