Storm Trysail Club (STC), supported by the Storm Trysail Foundation (STF), created a new format for Safety-At-Sea training in 2021: “Do-It-Yourself Training Day”. We now refer to it as “BYOB” Day – Bring Your Own Boat Day. This on-the-water event encourages owners and crews to perform MOB Recovery and other safety drills on their own boats, with their own equipment, and their own crews.
BYOB Day will be held on Saturday, May 30, two weeks after our Hands-On Safety at Sea Seminar at SUNY Maritime on May 16, allowing crews to immediately build upon those concepts through on-the-water practice. Newport-Bermuda Race entries will also wish to participate as part of their broader offshore preparation and to fulfill some of the onboard training requirements. See NBR Official Notice Board

Storm Trysail Foundation requests that participating boats make a donation to STF in the amount of $250 for boats 45’ LOA or longer, $175 for those boats 40’- 45’ LOA, and $125 for boats smaller than 40’.
