Larchmont, NY –  The Storm Trysail Club (STC) is excited to announce the Notice of Race for the 31st Block Island Race Week (BIRW), marking 60 years of this celebrated biennial event. Founded in 1965, Block Island Race Week 2025 will take place from June 22-27, in Rhode Island Sound at Champlain’s Marina and Resort, promising a thrilling mix of ORC and PHRF racing and a great post-racing atmosphere.

Known for its unique combination of distance and buoy racing, Block Island Race Week offers something for every sailor. Beyond the racing, the event is renowned for its outstanding hospitality, making it a must-attend on the sailing calendar. This year, the excitement is amplified by the involvement of IHG Hotels & Resorts, a new partner supporting not just Race Week but all STC events. (See more details below).

In 2023, the 30th edition of BIRW saw 174 boats compete, and the STC hopes to see even more participants in 2025. The popular decision to distinguish between professional and pro-am classes in 2023 will continue, ensuring balanced competition across race divisions. "We encourage grand prix teams to join our ORC open division and teams with a mix of corinthians and professionals to sail among those with similar crew compositions. Additionally, our pursuit class is ready for those navigator course sailors," says Event Chair Ty Anderson.

"We believe the continued success of Block Island Race Week is due to our emphasis on fun, the beautiful island environment, and the well-organized racing," says STC Commodore Ray Redniss. "While we are delighted with sustained growth, we also expect that high-level competition will continue to be a feature of BIRW."

All boats over 22 feet in length overall are invited to join the regatta, with racing planned for Monday - Friday June 23-27, 2025. Boats may compete in ORC, PHRF with handicaps faster than 177, Performance Cruising (Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker), Double-handed, Plus One, Classics, NEMA, or One-Design classes.

Storm Trysail Club plans to arrange discount dockage once again, details on securing berths will be released in Fall 2024.
