Intercollegiate Offshore Regattas

Initially established in the early 1970s in New York by The Corinthians, the Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta began as an invitational event designed to bring collegiate sailors together with keelboat owners for spirited head-to-head racing each fall out of Larchmont Yacht Club. What started as a single regatta has grown into a nationally recognized series, now hosted in Larchmont, Chicago, and Seattle.
With increasing demand and limited berths available at each venue, the IOR Organizing Committees ask schools to request an invitation to participate in one, two, or all three. This process allows the Committee to thoughtfully allocate entries at each event while maintaining competitive balance and preserving the unique owner-sailor partnership that defines the event.
We look forward to continuing this long-standing tradition of offshore keelboat racing while welcoming both returning programs and new teams to the starting line.
IOR Regattas are 100% Event Fee Free thanks ot the kind donations of boat owners, the Storm Trysail Foundation, and our sponsors.
The school with the best combined performance across the Intercollegiate Offshore Regattas will be awarded the Callisto Cup.
Bestowed by Jim and Kate Murray in 2025, the trophy recognizes the College or University that achieves the strongest overall results in the Storm Trysail Club’s Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta Series (IORS) during a single academic year.
The series currently includes the Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta (Larchmont), the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta (Chicago), and the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta (Seattle).
The Callisto Cup encourages schools to compete beyond their home region and rewards consistent excellence across the national series.
College of Charleston won the first Callisto Cup in 2025
