Storm Trysail Club Wins Big at US Sailing Annual Awards

Last week in San Diego, history was made as our own Cole Brauer was named US Sailing's Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year, cementing her place among sailing’s elite. But the celebration didn’t stop there—Storm Trysail Club and the Storm Trysail Foundation were also recognized with the prestigious Captain Joe Prosser Award by US Sailing.

This award honors organizations that have made exemplary contributions to sailing instruction, safety, and training—core values of Storm Trysail’s mission and our Safety at Sea, Community Sailing, and Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta initiatives. It recognizes the dedication and impact of our club and foundation in shaping sailors through offshore training, safety at sea seminars, and youth development programs.

Former Commodore Ed Cesare and Rear Commodore Matt Gallagher were onsite at the US Sailing Leadership Forum to accept the awards.

The Captain Joe Prosser Award was created in memory of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy’s first sailing master and is awarded to an organization that embodies honor, integrity, and a selfless dedication to the sport. Along with the trophy, the recognition includes a $500 credit from US Sailing’s Education Committee toward instructor training.

This dual recognition is a testament to the commitment and passion of our members, coaches, and volunteers. Congratulations to Cole Brauer and to all who make Storm Trysail a leader in sailing education and excellence!
