The seminar will be an all-day affair 0900h to 1700h. You will be in the classroom and on the water.
Curriculum:
- Heavy Weather Discussion/Awareness/Radio
- Crew Overboard Prevention and Recovery
- Big Boat Safety Equipment
- Fire Suppression and Flair Use
- Life Raft Deployment and Boarding
- On the water session with man overboard recovery, setting storm sails & emergency steering
You must bring the following:
- Sunblock, hat, swimsuit, towel
- Appropriate boating shoes. No flip flops or sandals
- We will be sailing, rain or shine, so dress appropriately for the weather.
- Lunch and a Refillable water bottle
- USCG approved PFD (if you do not have one, please reach out in advance)
- If you have an inflatable PFD, please bring it along so we can examine it and help you check it and learn about it
- Any safety gear you own you want to learn more about!
- A notebook and pen or pencil
