Block Island Race Week Seeks to Branch Out: Help Us Spread the Word!

As members of the Storm Trysail Club (STC), we all know how special Block Island Race Week is, but now we’re looking to expand the event’s reach and attract even more teams and boats. This is where we need your help! We think that many of you know sailors at your home club or on the racing circuit who could benefit from the excitement, camaraderie, and competition that Block Island Race Week offers.

Race Chair Ty Anderson recently took this message to his home yacht club, Riverside Yacht Club, where he gave a presentation that sparked interest in many potential participants. During the presentation, Ty shared details about the logistics of attending Race Week and explained the wide range of racing options available to suit various skill levels and boat types: Grand Prix, One-Design, ORC, or PHRF Cruising. His audience left eager to learn more about this incredible event.

Our goal for Block Island Race Week is simple: to create an environment where camaraderie and competition flourish. By day, you’ll experience some of the best race management around. And by night? You’ll be part of vibrant socials under the tent, where stories from the day’s racing will be shared over good food and drinks. It’s an unbeatable combination that makes Race Week a must-attend for sailors.

We are also planning to visit more clubs with similar presentations, and we encourage you to connect us with your network if you think this would be beneficial. Additionally, we’ll be hosting a Zoom Seminar version of the presentation, which will be recorded for future viewing. We encourage live participation for those who have questions—after all, the more the merrier!
