Volunteer of the Day – Diane Quart

Diane Quart was honored as Volunteer of the Day by The Storm Trysail Club.

Diane Quart received the Volunteer of the Day award on Tuesday from John Fisher, former Commodore of Storm Trysail Club and Quantum Key West Race Week 2016 Event Chairman.

Diane began volunteering for shoreside duty in 2000, and for the past 14 years has managed all of the Race Gear for all of the Race Committee boats . All marks, anchors, offsets horns, course boards, flags and poles are inventoried, checked and updated as necessary, and Diane must be prepared for the incidental loss of any gear.

Diane hails from Buffalo, NY, and her main passion is rowing. Diane’s former rowing career has landed her a position as the Adult Head Recreational Coach at the West Side Rowing Club in Buffalo, NY. In 2011, the West Side won Canadian Henley Gold in the Masters 8+. In 2012 she was part of a West Side masters E 4+ that won Canadian Henley Gold and the US National Championships in Cambridge, MA. The E4 also took Gold at the US National head races held in Cleveland, OH. In that same event, she competed in a mixed 8+ that also won gold.

On a personal note, Diane is an athlete at heart and her commitment to the success of KWRW is evident – 3 weeks ago, she had back surgery and she is here to support our team, and to keep the support boats race-ready.
