The Vineyard Race has the Buzzards Society. The Newport Bermuda Race has the Gulf Stream Society. Now the Storm Trysail Club Block Island Race Week has the North Light Society to honor those sailors who have dedicated many years to the biennial adventure that is Race Week on Block Island.
Block Island North Light was first built in 1867 and has undergone many restorations over her centuries of warning mariners of the sandy and rocky shoals just off her shores, the latest in 2010 by the North Light Commission, brought her back to her former glory where she can welcome all sailors approaching Great Salt Pond.
So it seemed only fitting that the Storm Trysail Club name bestow the same name upon not just these honored sailors but the volunteers who make Block Island Race Week function as well. A pin distingushing 5, 10, or 15 Block Island Race Week will be given to those inductees who qualified.
Those members in attendance at the 29th Block Island Race Week in 2021 can pick up their pins at the registration desk. All others will be mailed in the later Summer.
If you qualify but have not applied, it is not too late. However, if you are in attendance and applying during Race Week, please allocate 24 hours before you come to the registration desk to pick up your pin due to the administration required by our volunteers.
