Ronald C. Trossbach, Captain, USN (ret)
Education:
1955 - appointed to US Naval Academy from hometown high school in Princeton, New Jersey.
1959 - graduated from USNA with BS degree.
1965 - BSEE from U.S. Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, California. Ordnance Engineering Curriculum.

U.S. Naval Service (1959-1989) Surface Warfare Officer with Project Management Sub-specialty.
• Sea Duty tours aboard six warships (Destroyers, Guided Missile Destroyers, Frigates and Cruiser). Eight 6 month tours in the Viet Nam war zone conducting Shore Fire Support (hit by counterbattery fire from shore), Plane Guarding, and Piraz air control support and rescue duties in Gulf of Tonkin.
• Two Executive Officer and two Commanding Officer tours (early command of Guided Missile Destroyer Escort USS Schofield (DEG 3) and senior command of USS Chicago (CG 11).
• Four alternate tours ashore in Washington, DC Ordnance Engineering Billets in Bureau of Personnel, Pentagon CNO Staff and Naval Material Commands.
• Education and Training billet as Director of Navy Sailing located at US Naval Academy in Annapolis.

Post Retirement Activities (1990-Present) - Cruising Yachtsman (87,000 nautical miles in own boats, together with wife Kathleen) and International Offshore Safety at Sea equipment and training expert.
• US Naval Academy's Vanderstar Sailing Chair (1991-1992)
• US Editor, International Special Regulations governing Offshore Safety Equipment aboard Racing Yachts (1992- 2014)
• Four Transatlantic Crossings and five Newport Bermuda Yacht Races in personal 39 ft sailboat
• Safety at Sea Committee volunteer for US Sailing, the Cruising Club of America, New York Yacht Club, and the Great Lakes Cruising Club.
• Safety Seminar Planner, Moderator, Lecturer and Technical Editor of texts, workbooks and On-Line Courses
• Chairman, 2000 Newport Bermuda Yacht Race (180 entrees)
• Coordinator of Safety for Cruising Couples including Suddenly Alone Training Program (2000-Present). 3,000+ attendees.
