Sally Lindsay Honey grew up family sailing on keel boats, then campaigned 5-0-5 dinghies for 20 years after college. Professionally, Sally worked as a sailmaker in Marblehead, MA and North sails in Connecticut. After moving to the west coast with husband, Stan Honey, Sally started her own sail loft/industrial sewing business, operating in Palo Alto for 28 years. She has raced her Cal 40, double-handed and fully-crewed, locally and to/from Hawaii, has raced in the Newport-Bermuda and Chicago-Mackinac Island races, spent two summers cruising in the Pacific Northwest, 5 months living aboard a 45-foot sailboat in Antigua, a summer crewing on a traditional Alden schooner in St Thomas and the last five years cruising her Cal 40 with Stan from San Francisco to Newport RI, transiting the Panama Canal. Twice named U. S. Yachtswoman of the Year, Sally has served on multiple sailing boards and safety review panels, was an on-the-water volunteer for the America’s Cup, and edited a Safety At Sea Handbook for US Sailing. Sally currently serves as a member of the World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations sub-committee and chair of the US Sailing Safety at Sea Committee.
